Abstract
All members of the United States Air Force are subject to jurisdiction of the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ), originally passed in 1950 and substantially amended by the Military Justice Act of 1960. This research sought to examine the disciplinary rates of various subgroups of the enlisted population. It provides a rare investigation into criminal case processing outcomes in a large sample of Air Force adverse actions over 10 years. It advances the scarce literature regarding the military justice system. This research describes the demographic characteristics of the Airman who encounter disciplinary problems. Across, ten years of data, such an individual is likely to be lower ranking, and a minority.
