Abstract
Attrition is a problem facing learning institutions today. The problem of attrition was researched using six symbols on the Cognitive Style Map to predict persistence or non-persistence in the Medical Laboratory Technology program. A Null Hypothesis and an Alternate Hypothesis were proposed based on the scores of the six symbols T(VL), Q(CET), Q(CEM), Q(P), Q(CKH), and I. These scores were analyzed according to an Analysis of Variance, Linear Regression, and a variety of Correlation Coefficients at the 0.05 level of significance. The Null Hypothesis was accepted based on the results of the statistical tests. These tests showed that non-persistence in the Medical Laboratory program could only be predicted twenty-three percent of the time using these six symbols.
