Abstract
Adolescent and young adult (AYA) patients (ages 15–39) undergoing oncologic surgery face unique physical, psychosocial, and developmental challenges that influence surgical preparedness and recovery. Despite growing recognition of these needs, structured prehabilitation programs tailored to AYA populations remain limited. This qualitative study explores both patient and surgeon perspectives on surgical preparation and the potential role of prehabilitation programs dedicated to AYA cancer patients in improving outcomes. It explores the opinions of both on what a program should include, how it should be delivered, and what barriers there may be to implementation and uptake, and their recommendations to help overcome these barriers.
