Pamela "Pam" A. Whitmire, PharmD, graduated from Clemson University in 1977 with a BS in Pre-Pharmacy Preprofessional Studies, then obtained a BS in Pharmacy from the MUSC College of Pharmacy in 1980 and a Master's degree in Health Service Administration from MUSC in 1990. Whitmire worked as the Pharmacy Supervisor, then Pharmacy Director, for the St. Frances Health System in Greenville, SC.

Afterward, Whitmire continued her education at the University of Florida, graduating with a Doctor of Pharmacy degree in 2000. After obtaining her PharmD, she served in numerous leadership roles, including President and Co-Owner of the Honea Path Family Pharmacy from 2005-2009 and Regional Experiential Education Coordinator for South University School of Pharmacy in Columbia, SC from 2013-2015. Following that, Whitmire worked as the Pharmacy Manager at the Southwest Carolina Treatment Center in Anderson, SC for eleven years.

Whitmire also served in academic roles as an Associate Professor at the MUSC College of Pharmacy and was a member of the MUSC College of Pharmacy Board of Advisors in 1998.

Whitmire is active with many organizations, including the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists, the American Pharmacists Association (APhA), and the South Carolina Pharmacy Association (SCPhA). She served as Speaker of the House for APhA from 1999-2000 and held numerous officer positions for SCPhA, including Chairman of the SCPhA Practice Act Revision Committee from 1996-1998, Parliamentarian, Speaker of the House, and President. She currently serves on the SCPhA Board of Directors as Treasurer . Whitmire's many honors include the SCPhA Pharmacist of the Year Award in 1996, the SCPhA Outstanding District President Award in 1998, the SCPhA Bowl of Hygeia Award in 2008, the Phi Lambda Sigma Alumna of the Year Award in 2010, and was selected as an APhA-APPM Fellow in 2014.
