Betsy Davis, DMD, MS, earned her bachelor’s degree from Wofford College and her DMD from the MUSC College of Dental Medicine in 1987. Upon completing her dental degree, Davis received her certification and master’s in prosthodontics from the University of Iowa. A Head and Neck Specialist, she is one of a few dentists nationwide using 3D printing and other technologies to create prosthetic eyes, ears, noses, and other parts of the head and neck to replace those lost through cancer.

Davis formerly served as Medical Director of the Maxillofacial Prosthodontic Clinic and was a Professor of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery, and Professor of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at MUSC. She is now an oncologic dentist for Trident Medical Center.

In honor of her work, Davis was awarded The Andrew J. Ackerman Memorial Award, the highest award from the American Academy of Maxillofacial Prosthetics in 2021. The award honors an individual for their outstanding clinical practice contributions to the welfare and advancement of the specialty of prosthodontics. For her work in helping cancer patients, Davis also received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Academy of Maxillofacial Prosthetics in 2022.
