Cathy Moss, DMD, a native of Blacksburg, SC, graduated from Clemson University with a Bachelor of Science in Zoology in 1970. She enrolled in the MUSC College of Dental Medicine as its first female student in 1970 and graduated with her DMD in 1973. Before joining the College of Dental Medicine faculty in 1974, Moss completed a Medical Anesthesiology Residency at George Washington Hospital in Washington, DC. In 1980, Moss opened a private practice in Camden, SC, with her husband, Larry Owen, DMD.

Throughout her career, Moss has been a member of many professional organizations, including the Academy of General Dentistry, the American Dental Association, the American Orthodontics Society, the South Carolina Dental Association, the South Carolina Academy of Advanced Implant Studies, the Pee Dee District Dental Society, and the Kershaw County Dental Association. Additionally, she's logged over 1,000 hours of continuing education in orthodontics, implants, periodontics, endodontics, cosmetic bonding and veneers, fixed prosthodontics, CPR, and first aid.

Moss is a volunteer dental provider in the Kershaw County Community Medical Clinic in Camden and actively supports the United Way of Kershaw County and the KershawHealth Foundation. She provided free dental care for Conocotto, Ecuador, residents in 2009, along with her son, Will Owen, DMD.
